Momma I feel very low food security!

No wonder the USDA waited until after the election to release this report. Hunger is out, very low food security is in.

Start teaching your kids now folks, hunger is not the proper word to use when describing the uneasy or painful sensation caused by lack of food because the USDA doesn't measure hunger.

How about these fancy schmancy charts? America looks very food secure, don't you think? Would someone please point out to me where it shows that 12% of Americans — 35 million people — could not put food on the table at least part of last year?

Keep scrolling, keep scrolling......

When you reach the bottom of the page you'll see that Texas is above average - WOO HOO! Dig in to the report and you'll find that 1.3 million residents have low or very low food security.

Doesn't sound so bad when you leave out the word hunger, don't you think?

Sunday Funnies

More, hold the Rum ... --->

President Bush had many explanations for what he called the "thumping" his party took on Tuesday, but the most creative was the notion that his chief strategist, Karl Rove, had spent too much time reading books.

"I obviously was working harder on the campaign than he was," the president said at yesterday's East Room news conference. The reporters laughed. The Architect, who had challenged Bush to a reading contest, wore a sheepish grin and stared at his lap.

Jim Henley Makes the Cover of the Houston Press!

Jim Henley, candidate for US Congressional District 7 made the cover of the Houston Press! The article is entitled
Getting Schooled, A legendary debate teacher has a lesson plan to knock off Congressman John Culberson

As he approaches retirement after almost 20 years at Lanier, Henley has decided he wants to give his students "one last lesson plan": taking on an incumbent who he thinks epitomizes everything that's wrong with the pandering, hypocritical, ugly shoutfest that is American politics today.

Jim Henley has accepted no PAC money for his campaign warchest. Please contribute to the campaign if you're able.
