A year and a half-long study of the security vulnerabilities of electronic voting systems has just been published by the Brennan Center For Justice at New York University, deploying the expertise of a panel of computer security experts, including Dr. Dan Wallach of Rice University. Good job on the paper-trail piece, Stan. How do we get Beverly Kaufman and the Mayor to answer your request? Might we have a better chance for a response if the Republicans joined in requesting one? Isn't it odd that Republicans don't seem to be concerned about ballot fraud? Is it possible that they know something that we don't about how to screw up the little electronic marvels that record--or don't--our votes? Why else would Kaufman call voting a "faith-based exercise"?What are we supposed to have faith in? The REPUBLICANS? Those simon-pure purveyors of death and destruction abroad and greed, fraud, mendacity and lower taxes for million-/billionaires at home? I'll have faith that my vote has been counted when I have in my hand and the voting machine has in its little electronic guts a piece of paper that makes it crystal clear that that is the case--and when I don't have to worry that that little moral munchkin back there behind the voting machines humming "Onward, Christian Soldiers" under his breath while he fiddles with the circuits isn't busy fixing it to look as if I voted for Beverly Kaufman when I didn't.

Onward and upward, Brother Merriman. Hold those horny Grand Oil Party feet to the fire--and the Mayor's, too.
