Pride Parade Tomorrow
PRIDE PARADE ENTRY, SPONSORED BY ROAD WOMEN & MONTROSE AREA DEMOCRATS
Saturday, June 24th, 2006
Parade is expected to last from 8:45 -11:00 pm
Parade entry 068
| Line up: | 1900 block of Kipling, near Hazard and Kipling |
| Decorate float: | 7:00 pm |
| Line up: | All clubs/banners/walkers must be in place no later 7:30 pm |
| Water: | Bring your own! It will be hot! |
IDEA: You may consider dropping your car off at the disassembly area at the end
of the parade route (Lovett & Montrose). We will be tired after walking!
NOTE: There will be no place on the float for riders, so all participants must
walk the parade route.
Show Your Pride! The nationally acclaimed Houston Gay Pride Parade is right around
the corner. HCDP is planning a wonderful entry for this fun NIGHT parade! We need
volunteers and resources to make this years entry extra special. HCDP will have a
walking entry so all Democratic clubs are encouraged to bring their banners, wear
their club t-shirts and glow-in-the-dark necklaces, and have a great time. Our
entry will be led by energetic cheerleaders in keeping with the parade them of "Say
It Out Loud" and followed by a decorated pick-up truck. Our cheerleaders will lead
cheers along the route and we'll be throwing Pride Parade approved items to the
assembled throng.
We need your help and valuable ideas to make this year's entry a rousing success.
If you can help, please contact Marianna Cline, Montrose Area Democrats, at mcline1227@aol.com or (713) 203-7659. If your club plans to participate, please
RSVP to Marianna. If each of the 40+ clubs sent 3 members to march in the parade,
the HCDP entry would include over 120 Democrats!
Immediate needs include:
- Portable generators
- Large pick up truck
- Cheerleaders- no experience required but for those of you wishing to re-live the glory days, here's your shot.
- Bull horns or megaphones
- Great cheer ideas
Bring Mardi Gras beads to throw. Many thanks to ROADWOMEN for sponsoring the HCDP
entry and Montrose Area Democrats and Max Beauregard for sponsoring the float.
