The Houston Social Forum is:
* a regional event that addresses local as well as global issues
* comprised of diverse groups building from common values

* supportive of true participatory democracy
* nonviolent resistance to the world's injustice

- HERA is a non-partisan alliance of individuals and organizations committed to building a sustainable strategy to promote equality and respect for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people through one-on-one conversations, community mobilization, education, and advocacy.
- Houston Institute for Culture
- Houston Peace and Justice Center
- The mission of the Houston Peace and Justice Center is to enhance the work of institutions and organizations in the Houston area that promote non-violence, human rights, and economic, social, and environmental justice. The Center encourages their networking and collaboration. It facilitates their pooling of existing resources and acquisition of new resources to achieve specific goals. It offers itself as a vehicle for educational outreach to the general public and as a sponsor of events that build community among Houston's peace and justice activists.
- In Solidarity with Animals
- The main focus of In Solidarity with Animals is outreach, a method used to educate and enlighten the general public on animal rights issues. Our mission: to take a leadership role in moving Houston - and eventually the world - from the Dark Ages to a New Awakening about the way we treat animals. We choose to fight our battles with compassion and understanding, and we truly believe that we can change the world - on person at at time. We work towards building bridges with other environmental and animal groups in Texas. There is power in numbers and we aim to work with a variety of groups to create positive social change.

- Jovenes Immigrantes Por Un Futuro Mejor
- An organization advocating for immigrant rights and student immigrant rights, the DREAM Act. JIFM de UH is a nonprofit organization composed of college and high school students. JIFM-UH focuses on raising awareness for immigrant rights and dignity. Most importantly, JIFM-UH actively advocates for the enactment of the DREAM Act that would legalize the status of students that graduate from high school and college. Students will then be able to pursue their professional careers following college graduation.
