Cindy Sheehan in Houston Yesterday

Tea PartyMrs. Bush Please SitBetween 200 and 300 protestors showed up to join Cindy Sheehan yesterday at the Tea Party for Barbara Bush on President's Day. Barbara did not show.

We had participants from all over the country. Gold Star Families for Peace and Veterans for Peace were there in force. Mimi Kennedy and Ann Wright joined Cindy as well as Diane Wilson, who was just released from jail for a banner drop at a Dow Chemical factory joined us.

See below the fold for more photos.

We were only able to drive past and honk (where TH did y'all park?!?) but I saw at least 200 people, a sizable broadcast media contingent, and a very muted police presence.

Those are some powerfully peaceful women.

Sorry I missed seeing you! It was a great event!

Diane looks great considering she's just gotten out of jail. She gets right back into the fight. What a woman!

The event was wonderful and I/we have received some great feedback from all over the country!

We tried to make sure the police and the church were aware that this was to be a PEACEFUL and NONVIOLENT protest. I think we were successful.

Hats off to everyone who worked so hard to make sure this event was a success! Cindy says she's coming back next year to do it again!

YA'LL DID 'ER PROUD! An exposition lacking all class and intellect as I would expect of Mama Sheehan, herself. And thanks for the additional traffic headaches on my way home from work. Something you girls obviously do not have to worry about.

Tex,

Sorry that our demonstration interrupted your life for a few minutes. IF you find this irritating, you got a very small taste of what military families and Gold Star families deal with every single day of their lives.

The war came home to touch you for what? About 15 minutes? Naw, I don't worry about traffic on my way home. I worry about the soldiers over in Iraq every single day putting their lives on the line while you sit in your car as you drive home in your traffic after work. And the parents who wait for that knock on the door that will change their lives forever. Or the children who will grow up without their daddy.

Oh, and Cindy did not put that together, I did. Cindy just came to join us. We did not get sound permits for the neighborhood out of respect for the people living there.

If the worst thing you have to worry about in your life is the additional traffic headaches on your way home, then I feel sorry for you.

Amy

To Tex, whoever and/or whatever you may be:

There are times when the need for a display of principle and conviction trumps the need for a display of whatever you call "class."As for intellect, anyone who thinks a little traffic problem is more important than a demonstration aimed at trying to end a cruel, senseless war-- that you no doubt approve--shouldn't comment on the intellect of these demonstrators lest you invite being labeled one of that mob of the most unthinking, hard-hearted, wooden-headed, unintellectual, war-mongering modern barbarians, the Bush Republicans.

Besides that, if you're going to call yourself "Tex," you need to learn to spell "y'all."
