In order to participate in the parade, the HCDP and its participants must follow certain guidelines:

·       Candidates will not be allowed to participate in this parade with the HCDP entry.

·       No parade participant may show any signs that suggest political endorsement of any candidates.  No buttons, t-shirts, signs, push cards, etc.  This rule will be strictly enforced.

3)  Small and Minority-Owned Business Meeting Invitational

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, the National Basketball League, and the Houston Rockets are Collaborating to Create Opportunities for Houston’s Small and Minority-Owned Businesses during the NBA All-Star Game Weekend

Houston Rockets Chief Executive Officer, George Postolos, Bill Miller and NBA officials will be meeting with various small and minority-owned businesses in Houston to facilitate a diversity of participation during this year’s NBA All-Star Game Weekend.  Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has contacted interested businesses owners to partake in Monday’s meeting.

In reference to the date of the meeting, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee stated “On the day we honor the great Martin Luther King, Jr., this meeting and its progress thereafter are symbols of togetherness and inclusion that Houston represents.” Greater Houston will benefit enormously from the NBA All-Star Game and its proceeds.  It is important that the community who is hosting the Game is intricately involved in planning and facilitating stages of this grand event.

The meeting will offer an opportunity for those of you who have submitted requests to do business with the NBA during the all star game or seeking to do business at this time. This is an opportunity to get more information directly from NBA officials. We look forward to seeing you at this important meeting that can help you develop a relationship with the NBA.
