Dems - Please check in here!
After a hellatious attempt at evacuating to Austin yesterday, we ended up back in Houston. It took us an hour to backtrack over what had taken 15 hours to get to. We're on the West side of town - safe and well stocked. Please let us know how you are faring.
I have a friend in Laredo who plans to bring in supplies next week if we need them. Post your needs here. All comments posted to this address will be sent to me with an email address, so if you express a need, I'll try to respond as long as I have email access.
Also, the Specs in the 11000 block of Westheimer (between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford) is open as of this minute.
Stay safe everyone!

Thank God for Spec's! Civilization is saved!
That said, I think it'd be great if those supplies could be redirected toward our neighbors east of us who in the next few hours are going to be eating the very wet bullet that we just dodged.
Given how incredibly lucky it looks like we're gonna be, I think we can all start assessing needs and collecting supplies some time Sunday. I'm sure I'll be hearing about this at church--not a bad place to start showing a little bit of gratitude.

Good point Bucky. Just spoke to my friend who's at the rally in Washington - right in front of the White House. If she plans to go anywhere to help, she will go to our east and help those most affected.

We had a somewhat similar experience, Lyn, an abortive 9 hour attempt get to Dallas on 146 that only got us over the Baytown Bridge, followed by a 6 hour attempt to get to College Station via 290 that only got us a mile past FM 1960. We wound up back in Clear Lake to ride out the storm. Regrettably, the Clear Lake Spec's store was NOT open for business.
