Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee
Town Hall Meeting
Iraq:-Where Do We Go From Here?
Thursday, August 25, 2005, 7:00 p.m. CST at the Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church located at 2025 West 11th Street
Almost two thousand American soldiers have lost their lives in the War in Iraq and yet the Bush Administration still does not have a successful exit strategy for our troops. Come listen to experts talk about the right plan for Iraq and hear testimony from the Gold Star Mothers who have lost loved ones in this War that has gone on for more than two years. You will also see scenes from the documentaries "Uncovered: the War in Iraq" and "Caught in the Crossfire." Additionally, we expect to have a call-in from Gold Star Mother Cindy Sheehan.
Please join us for this vital dialogue on an issue of national and international concern.
For more information and to RSVP please call (713) 655-0050.
I was lucky enough to be able to visit Camp Casey this weekend, along with many other Houstonians. I'll post pictures and my thoughts later this morning.

I am an award-winning journalist and columnist with a project, Ruminations on America. I have called for essays from coast to coast on the subject of true core American values and the current state of the union. You are cordially invited to participate, or to check out what others, including John Ventimiglia of the HBO show The Sopranos, a Catholic nun in prison for civil disobedience, and others, have to say. Today's entry is a conversation between a Vietnam veteran who opposes the war in Iraq and a soldier who is presently in Iraq.
This is an experiment in democracy and free speech. Each entry must be less than 1000 words, accompanied by a photograph that conveys a sense of who you are and a brief intrpduction to your life.
