JustUs Sunday II

The GOP God Squad is having their second Meetup this Sunday, and Bill Frist won't be there despite the fact it is being held in Nashville, Tennessee.

It's possible he may have been disinvited because he dared to suddenly figure out this week that stem cell research is actually good science.

Instead, the lownote speaker will be ... *drumroll, please* ... Tom DeLay.

Do you think he'll be talking about his golf game?

Check out this awesome lineup of speakers (that's them, not really standing together, up there):

Senator Zell Miller D-Ga. (HA! Everybody knows crazy ol' Uncle Zell is a Republican who can't find the exit door to the Democratic Party)
Tony Perkins, Family Research Council (I thought that this 'Psycho' actor passed away a few years ago...)
Dr. James Dobson, Focus on the Family (alas, in spirit but not in body -- that means by videotape)
Chuck Colson, Prison Fellowship Ministries (former Watergate criminal and the man who said: "it is not honorable to leak classified information to the press". He was NOT talking about Karl Rove)
Bill Donohue, Catholic League
Phyllis Schlafly, Eagle Forum
Cathy Cleaver Ruse, Family Research Council (OK, who else knew that Wally and The Beaver had a sister?!?)
Dr. Jerry Sutton, Two Rivers Baptist Church
Bishop Harry Jackson, Hope Christian Church
Ted Haggard, National Association of Evangelicals

I found a better portrait of La Cucaracha Grande that they could have used:

Paul Hackett nearly pulled it off yesterday. No, he didn't get elected to Congress. But he did collect 48.2 % of the vote in a southwestern Ohio district... [Read More]

Thanks for the invite but I'm going to attend the Moral Values Conference then stick around for the 10 years for Texas Gala and have my own religious experience.

Go on wit yo' bad self, Bambi.

Do you think it bothers the believers on the Religious Right that DeLay granted special favors to Saipan, where officials forced "pregnant garment workers...to have abortions to keep their jobs"?

How is it that a man nicknamed 'The Hammer' has come to be a hero to people who worship Jesus, who was nailed to a cross?

Posted by: PDiddie at August 3, 2005 09:36 PM

No, PDiddie it doesn't bother them because "In God we Trust" only applies to America. I know this because it is only on American currency.

I don't know about that hammer and nail thingie. That's way too deep.

Zell Miller, James Dobson, Chuck Colson, and Tom Delay, together? I admire these people for their INCREDIBLY strong stomachs!

Geez. A sign over a Crucifix saying "The hammer nailed me too".

Geez or is it Geez Us?

Go ahead Perry. I wore the prison outfit. You just need long hair and a robe.

Y'all may have missed Juanita on this topic:

Holy Democracy, Greedman! Tom DeLay is getting himself saved again! On teevee. With Phyllis Schlafly watching. That borders on breaking the law in several states.

Goodness Sake, Honey, look at that schedule --- it's Six Flags Over Jesus! You gotta get a ticket to go to church that Sunday and they've even got a media center going and press releases and fliers and a Sky Angel satellite (see, if I would have made that up, you wouldn't have believed me), and printable posters and whatnot, just like Jesus did. Whoa, wait. I just got carried away with that Holy Ghost spirit.

Honestly, I think Sweet Jesus will be attending services elsewhere that Sunday. He's not mean enough for that crowd, and certainly not greedy enough.

I do think we need to warn the good people of Nashville that it's only a matter of time before God gets really hacked at these folks.
