Houston Heroes Honored in Lege
Having served his country in the National Guard in Afghanistan, Rep. Rick Noriega (D-Houston) has returned to Texas. Having briefly vacationed with his family in Galveston, Rep. Noriega made a personal pilgrimage to the lonely stretch of Hwy. 71 between Houston and Austin where fellow Rep. Joe Moreno lost his life in a car accident earlier this year.
Today, Rep. Jerry Madden (R-Plano) sponsored a House Resolution honoring the service of Noriega's wife, Melissa, to the Texas Legislature. Mrs. Noriega has served ably in her husband's stead for the duration of the 79th Legislature, passing two bills and using her expertise as a former HISD administrator to make valuable contributions to floor debate on school finance issues. The Resolution was unanimously adopted.
Thank you for your courage and commitment, Rick and Melissa, from all of us.
