Congressman Culberson on Hardball to Claim That 9/11 Justifies Vigilante Border Patrols

Republican Congressman John Culberson of Houston's 7th Congressional District is working the cable news circuit to push his solution to our nation's immigration issues, HR 3622: the legalization of armed vigilantes. He will appear on MSNBC's Hardball this evening. See the text of his announcement after the jump, as well as links to the full text of the bill on the Congressman's website and to the contact page for MSNBC/Hardball.

Here is the text of Congressman Culberson's message, which includes his web address:

Tonight at 6 p.m. Central time I will appear on Chris Matthews' Hardball on MSNBC debating an open borders advocate, and I thought you might be interested in watching. I have nearly 50 co-sponsors for my bill, HR 3622, to create a Border Protection Corps made up of citizen volunteers from all 50 States who will be sworn in to uphold the law, and then trained, equipped and deployed along our northern and southern borders under the direct command and control of local and state law enforcement officials. My legislation calls up a true national militia under Article 1, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, so that law abiding American citizens can help protect our country in the War on Terror by patrolling our borders alongside federal, state and local law enforcement officers.

Here is a link to our District Seven web page where you will find a link to the text of the bill and links to all of the news stories that have been published or broadcast about HR 3622 - here. The response has been overwhelmingly favorable - about 85% of the calls and letters and emails to my office have been supportive.

9/11 deputized all of us but not everyone can serve in the military or the FBI or the CIA, and we desperately need more people on the border protecting us from terrorists and criminals hiding among the flood of illegal immigrants pouring across every day. HR 3622 gives every able bodied honest American of sound mind a chance to help protect our country. Unfortunately, those of us in Congress focused on protecting our borders have been unable to get the Administration to deploy enough Border Patrol agents and secure our borders, and I am frankly fed up and tired of waiting and working quietly behind the scenes to get the federal government to protect our borders. I am convinced the terrorists will hit us again with massive truck bombs simultaneously in downtown areas all across America, and then they will laugh at us as they announce that we let them walk into our country across our wide open borders by pretending to be Hispanic.

I need your help to actively promote HR 3622 with Senator John Cornyn and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and other members of Congress. I am confident we can win their support because this is simply a matter of trusting law abiding American citizens to do what we have always done best - protect our families, our neighbors, our communities and ourselves until the federal government can come along to relieve us. This is how our ancestors created America, preserved the Union in the Civil War and protected the frontier in Texas and throughout the West.

I will not rest until our borders are secure and our immigration laws are enforced. I have had it. Please join me in spreading the word about HR 3622.

Anyone who disagrees that "9/11 deputized all of us" or that the answer to national security issues lies in armed militias may want to communicate with the Congressman at his website linked above, or to share a differing viewpoint with MSNBC's Hardball here.
