Rick Perry to offer prayer at gay marriage ban signing

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Governor Rick Perry will sign two bills, one compelling a minor's parents' consent in writing before she can choose not to give birth and one which sets a public vote on the definition-of-marriage constitutional amendment.

He can offer this prayer. Oh Lord let us prey.

Let us prey on the weak, the old, and the needy.
Let us prey on those who lack health insurance.
Let us prey on the children who lack education.
Let us prey on the teachers who lack decent wages.
Let us prey on homeowners who lack affordable insurance.
Let us prey on the veterans who lack services.

And Lord let the Republican Party of Texas prey on those who are different, especially the homosexuals and forever ban the practice of joining in matromony so as to protect the sanctity of marriage.

In your name we prey.

A little word of caution to those of you who are planning to go to that soon-to-be-infamous church to watch Gov Goodhair desecrate it by playing a dirty little political signing game in it: Our God has not shown any inclination that we can prove to fling thunderbolts like those cast by Her/His distant Greek cousin Jove, but that doesn't mean that She/He CAN'T do it. So on the not-so-outside chance that the Repugs may have pushed the Almighty too far this time, I'd stand back if I were you and let those li'l ol' Repug intellectual and spiritual midgets gathered round the Gov take all the volts. Then all the GOP will have to show for its Barnum & Craddick Legislative Circus will be Gov NoHair and a big pile of fried Fundamentalists, all smelling perfectly terrible from here to Abilene. How delicious!
