I think Kay is confusing "what is best for the Republican Party" with "what is best for Texas."
What is not best for Texas is sending someone to the US Senate who is afraid to alienate the racists of our state.
Ojala que Barbara gane en 2006!

This will be a historic matchup of epic proportions. The first Senate race in Texas between two women, the first bona-fide, full-frontal assault on Rove's statewide hegemony, and the first time in a long time that Texans have had a hard-traveling, charismatic, tireless, battle-hardened candidate fighting to take to Washington access to care, our children's future, and paying the bills as major issues.
I've seen several blog posts that are "Oh golly we can't possibly beat Kaybee let's just crawl in a hole for another six years and not make too much noise and hope they're nice to us and hope we get a great candidate somewhere."
The great candidate is here, she's got Rove worried enough to talk Hutchison into doing the third term she despises and swore she wouldn't do, and the libs, trads, centrists, independents, and disaffected Republicans are taking note and listening attentively to her message.
DemFest proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Barbara Ann can bring Democrats together, agree to disagree, and focus on taking back this state.
Rove also has another problem--Hutchison has never been challenged on her turf by anyone like Barbara Ann, and it's a very open question whether or not her cheerleading skills will be effective against the charisma, wit, empathy, and hard-traveling of Barbara Ann.
