Voter ID Bill Thwarted

Chalk one up for the good guys. The Voter ID amendment was removed on a technicality Friday night. Democrats were prepared to filibuster the bill, but it proved unnecessary when Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, D-San Antonio, exercised a Senate rule that prevents a bill from carrying unrelated subjects.
