Here's what Debbie Riddle has to say:

She is terrified that, with the state demographer indicating that Texas will have a Latino majority in 2040, the new population won’t speak English. "We have to teach them our linguistic background," she frets. Texas Observer

Here's part of what Reggie Gonzalez said in honoring Debbie Riddle:

We are honoring Representative Riddle because she has shown the courage and foresight to take a stand for common sense and accountability on an issue that is often misrepresented. If we are to continue to reach out to the immigrant population in Texas, we have to let them know that we believe they are willing and able to contribute positively to our society, instead of implying that we feel they are not capable of meeting the minimum standards we set for our citizens in America. Clearly, Representative Riddle embraces this forward-thinking mindset, and we want to encourage and celebrate that point of view.
