Miami Elections Chief Quit
Associated Press is reporting that the Elections chief of Miami-Dade County, Florida has resigned amid criticism earned from problems in the last six elections. She had served since 2003.
Of course, Miami-Dade is the county in which 28,000 votes went uncounted in 2000 and allowed Bush's appointment by a little over 500 votes.
This time, it is gambling interests that are calling for a new election after a vote on allowing video gambling was defeated. Apparently, there was a high undervote which the now former chief of elections blamed on a "software fluke."
Wouldn't it be something if gambling interests are able to get a new election based on irregularities? It would certainly showcase the power of their lobbyists and lawyers! Who fights for the people?

This is not such great news: Beverly Kaufman, our own beloved (NOT!) County Clerk, loves hiring Florida election administrators.
