Some Comic Relief for Your Evening

This is too funny! My guess is it won't be available on Ebay for long. Click on the image to see the full page on Ebay:

Social Security for Sale

Thanks go to WHDC's Tom D'Ambrosio and WHDC President Joy Demark for alerting me to this.

Hey, why don't we just start auctioning off the major departments of the United States? The Department of Veterans Affairs should get some high bids since there is a growing number of eligible people. The Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security could constitute a monopoly. Another possibility might be to auction the individual positions within government.

On a more serious note, it really is ominous for Social Security and those who depend on its benefits if this administration succeeds in accomplishing its objectives for privatizing it. We really need to make some gains in 2006.

The AARP has just launched its new tv ad campaign. If you haven't seen it yet, you can view it on the AARP's Social Security Blog. The ad compares Social Security to a clogged drain. You don't tear down the house to fix a drain. It's amuzing, even though the subject is very serious.

The AARP has several action alerts you can support on Social Security, drug importation, and cash balance plans on their site.
